William Roberts was transported on the Seppings, departing 1st Dec 1839 and arriving 22nd Apr 1840 with 11 passengers.
A Barque of 393 Tons. Left Calcutta 1st Dec 1839 and arrived Port Jackson 22nd April 1840 via Port Phillip. Carried a cargo of sugar and 18 convicts shipped from Calcutta, four soldiers on board guarding the convicts. Of the 18 convicts 11 are destined for NSW. Two died of tuberculosis (consumption) and one had gone overboard and drowned while suffering from temporary insanity. Also onboard where the following Cabin Passengers :- Mr & Mrs Nails & Family Mr Cooper Mr Brown Mr Sparks Mr Hutchinson Mr Buchran.

Soldier of the 6th British Regiment. Tried - Poonah Court Martial India 21st May 1839. Crime Stricking Sergeant. Former Sentences - 6 months in the cells, 800 lashes, 600 months on the treadmill, 100 lashes. Description - Height 6'0", eyes dark brown, Hair Chestnut, scar on top of head and back of left wrist.
