Convict Notes

Eliza Robinson jumped overboard from the Elizabeth during her voyage, and drowned. Her death was one of three articles covered by a Naval Enquiry after the ship arrived in New South Wales. The Articles of the Inquiry were: 1. That regulations were not followed for the purpose of preventing improper intercourse between the Women Convict's and the Crew of the Ship. 2. The death of the Convict Eliza Robinson. 3. The disrespectful treatment that the Rev. VINCENT and his Family were subjected to. The Rev Vincent was a passenger on board the Elizabeth, accompanied by his wife, children and a servant. Regarding the death of Eliza Robinson, it was concluded that there was no satisfactory reason why Eliza deliberately jumped overboard. --------------------------------------------------------------- The Surgeon's Journal: Drowned by accident, 1.
