Albert SMART was convicted at Exeter, Devon on 17 March 1849 for arson - setting fire to 2 stacks of hay. (Tried with Premberton, also convicted and on board ship.) 10 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) per the ‘Fairlie’ arriving 4 July 1852.
Single man; aged 26yrs; brassfounder; ruddy complexion; red hair; blue eyes; 5’3 1/2”; Church of England; can read & write a little.
