1813 - "Committed to the County Gaol...Martha Smith and Elizabeth Redding, charged with stealing in the parish of Knowle, one fat sheep, the property of Joseph Lindop; - and Matthew Redding, charged with receiving part of the said sheep, knowing it to be stolen..." Lindop..." Tried at Warwick in 1813 with a 7 year term. Age given as 47. (Source: Reel 6007; 4/3502 p.15) ======================================================= 1814 - Martha SMITH, per Wanstead, convict, off stores, Sydney, to Mr D Wentworth (7036) (Source: 1814 Muster) ======================================================= 1815 – Martha had a son Robert born at Mulgrave Place, Sydney, father unknown. ======================================================== 1821 – Martha had a son Michael born, most likely at Parramatta, father unknown. ======================================================== 4 May 1820 - Martha SMITH & Mary Morris, both convicts per ship "Wanstead", had the length of their sentences queried by Magistrate Hannibal Macarthur of Parramatta. The Colonial Secretary replied that both women had terms of 14 years, having been tried at Warwick on the 29th March 1813 & so still entitled (with "their children") to be on the "Government Victualling List". There were a list of children recorded to Michael Duggan & Mary (CF per "Earl Cornwallis" 1801) - Catherine 17, William 15, Ellen 12, Eleanor 9, Robert 6, Michael 5 - all living at Parramatta. Were the last 2 sons of Martha Smith?
