Single man; aged 30yrs; seaman; 5'6 3/4"; dark complexion; dark brown hair; Hazel eyes; wears earrings; tattoos; scar on forehead; Protestant; can read & write. Native Place: Glasgow, Scotland. Brothers: Robert, Thomas & Alexander Sisters: Sarah, Mary & Margaret (ref. Convict Indent record) 16 Aug 1850: Prisoner Barracks 22 Aug 1850: Ticket of Leave granted 13 Sept 1852: Imprisoned in solitary confinement for 14 days for being in a Public House on Divine Service Day. 1853: Married Charlotte PROCTOR 19 Sept 1854: notation on record that he must pay for cost of passage before permitted a Conditional Pardon. n.b. various spellings on registrations.
