Burglary.—On Wednesday last, Stephen Summers, labourer, of Hadleigh, was committed for trial, by the Rev. Thomas Hand, charged with breaking into the dwelling-house of Mary Anne Stevens, Bulphan, and stealing a double barrelled gun, the property of her son….. Essex Herald, 13 Nov 1838. Stephen Summers, 29, labourer, was indicted for a burglary in the house of Mary Ann Stevens, widow, at Bulphan, and stealing a gun and other articles. Ten years transportation. Essex Standard, 30 Nov 1838.
