Bury Times Greater Manchester, England 5 Apr 1862 At the Kingston Assizes on Wednesday, Alfred Stevens, aged 18 years, was charged with attempting to murder Eliza Dewberry in February at Woking. He had courted the girl, but she afterwards rejected him. He therefore fired through the window of the house. Alfred was single, 5’10” tall, light hair, blue eyes, pale complexion, slight build.
