Built at Harwich in 1811 a square-rigged transport ship of 443 tons and copper lined she had two decks with a height between decks of 5 ft. 8 ins. In 1818, she had a major refit increasing the decks (and convict carrying capacity) to three. She was owned by the London firm of F. & C.F. Mangles.

old Bailey Online 655. MARY ANN SWEENEY was indicted for stealing, on the 6th of January, 1 shawl, value 7s.; 1 gown, value 1s.; and 3 yards of flannel, value 4s. 6d.; the goods of Jeremiah Murray, and that she had been before convicted of felony. JEREMIAH MURRAY . I live in Brighton-street, Cromer-street. The prisoner came backwards and forwards to see her mother who lodged in my house—the prisoner was in distress, and I gave her board and lodging till we could find her a situation—I saw the articles stated, safe about eight o'clock in the morning of the 6th of January, and missed them that morning—these are them—(looking at them).—mine is it lodging-house for respectable working people. EDWARD WOODS . I am shopman to a pawnbroker in the Commercial-road. I produce a shawl which was pawned, I believe, by the prisoner, on the 9th of January—this is the duplicate of it—(looking at one.) EVERARD PARKIN . I am a policeman. I took her into custody—this gown was taken from her person. DAVID BLACKMORE . I produce a certificate of the prisoner's former conviction from Mr. Clark's office—(read)—she is the person who was convicted. GUILTY . Aged 18.— Transported for Seven Years.

Mary Ann Sweeney was noted on her original convict indent as being able to read but not write and she was a small diminutive woman born in London she was Protestant and was charged for Theft and given 7 yrs /transportation. Mary was listed as 'Needlewoman' for her trade/work.
