Celia Swift was transported on the Surrey Or Surry, departing 28th Mar 1840 and arriving 13th Jul 1840 with 214 passengers.

Built at Harwich in 1811 a square-rigged transport ship of 443 tons and copper lined she had two decks with a height between decks of 5 ft. 8 ins. In 1818, she had a major refit increasing the decks (and convict carrying capacity) to three. She was owned by the London firm of F. & C.F. Mangles.

Celia was my maternal great great grandmother. She was married at the time of conviction. She married Isaac Alexander who was also a convict in 1847 at Wellington, NSW. Celia & Isaac & his two brothers were successful farmers & well respected in the community.

Criminal Registers: Offence Larceny Berrima Gaol: Admitted 17 May 1841, Discharged 31 May 1841, Admitted 28 December 1841 for Examination, Discharged 30 December 1841 Cemetery Index: Molong, NSW "Studlea - Leaving Molong on the Wellington Road, travel about 6km to the area called Copper Hill. There is a property on the left called Studlea which belongs to Mr Bill Bunting. There is a small cemetery on the property with 3 Headstones relating to the Alexander Family. To reach these graves permission must be obtained from Mr Bunting. Headstone 1. In Loving Remembrance of CELIA ALEXANDER Who died on the 27th of September 1900 in the 85th year of her age. Oh blessings on her kindly voice and on her silver hair and blessings on her whole life long until we meet up there. Oh blessing on her kindly heart and on her silver head a thousand times we blest her as we knelt beside her bed. MOTHER" Husband Isaac Alexander (died 31 July 1881) & their son William (died 11 Feb. 1877, aged 22) also buried there.
