Smith, Martin Fallon, Joseph Cuddy  Henry Stephenson, Mathew Torpy, Michael Mackey, Ellenor Shea, or Murphy, and Bridget Lonergan, for having forged bank notes in their possession, . ... Limerick Chronicle, 18 April 1827. -------------------------------------------------------------- ADM 101/50/81827-1828 Medical journal of the Marquis of Huntly, convict ship from 20 August 1827 to 11 February 1828 by John Smith, surgeon and superintendent, during which time the said ship was employed carrying male convicts from Ireland to New South Wales. (Described at item level). [The ship carried 163 male convicts, 33 soldiers, 4 women, 8 children, 8 passengers and a crew of 40 men and boys]. Folios 19-20: case no 17, Michael Torpy, aged 21, convict, taken ill at sea; disease or hurt, syphilis. Put on list, 29 October 1827. sent 3 February 1828 to general hospital at Sydney.

Irish Convict Database by Peter Mayberry. Matthew Torpy, age on arrival, 21, per Marquis of Huntley (2) 1828, Tried Tipperary, 1827, 7 years for house robbery. DOB 1807, native of Wexford. Labourer. Catholic. Single. Remarks: Colonial Sentence, Moreton Bay. ---------------------------------------------------- Windsor. Thomas Kinsela, Matthew Torpin, Charles Hart, James Whiting, and Edward Maher were indicted for a larceny. The Jury found the prisoners Not Guilty. The same persons were indicted for a larceny and found Guilty; Kinsela and Torpin sentenced to be transported for 7 years. Sydney Gazette, 12 Jan 1830. -------------------------------------------------- Moreton Bay Convict Records Arrived on 20th October 1827,per Governor Phillip. Mattw. Torphy, per Mqs.
