Thursday last, the Lord Lieutenant held a Council, when a Proclamation was issued offering a Reward of Two Thousand Pounds for the conviction of the murderers of Daniel Mara, a brother of the person who convicted Philip Grace, for the murder of Richard Chadwicke, Esq. The Proclamation appears in our advertising columns. Limerick Chronicle, 6 Oct 1827. Judge Moore has fixed Thursday for the trial of John Keogh, Thomas Keogh, Patrick Keogh and Michael Teacey, charged as principals in the murder of Daniel Mara. Besides those, there are 12 or 14 to be tried for a conspiracy to murder Mara; and a strong belief prevails of their conviction. Limerick Chronicle, 5 April 1828.




REPRIEVE. Clonmel, Friday. —An express has arrived in town to stay the execution of William Grace, Thomas Maher, Michael Tracy, Michael Looby, James Daniel, and Thomas Keogh, jun. They were sent off for transportation for life under an escort. Dublin Evening Packet, 15 April 1828. Yesterday, about one o’clock, and without one hour’s notice, William Grace, Thos. Keogh, Edmund Daniel, Thomas Maher, Michael Looby, and Michael Tracy, proceeded on an outside car from the county gaol escorted a party of the Scots Greys, with drawn swords, to the Hulks at Cove, where they are remain till they are embarked board the convict ships, to be transported for life. The Indentures state that Michael Treacy was 23 years old. He could neither read nor write; religion Catholic; status single and was a native of County Tipperary. He was a ploughman. He was convicted of murder or conspiracy on 7 April 1828 at Tipperary and sentenced to life. He had no prior convictions. Physical attributes - Height 5 feet 6 1/2 inches; complexion dark ruddy, freckled and pock pitted; hair dark brown and eyes hazel. Transport number 32.
