Convict Notes

__________________________ IRELAND - ‘Freeman’s Journal’ Tuesday 11 May 1802 page 4, column 4 "Sunday morning, a prostitute named Sarah Union was committed to the New Gaol by Alderman Rofe, examinations having been lodged against her by a German Captain for robbing him of banknotes to the amount of 50 Guineas, at an infamous house in Temple Lane (Dame St) where some are that are only to be exceeded for vice, infamy and prostitution, by others in Crane Lane. "The churchwardens and inhabitants of Saint marks parish have set an example to the other parishioners of Dublin by the conviction of Barton [who was pilloried on Saturday] to punish and prevent the keeping of such infamous houses and which ought to be generally followed."
