The 'Tellicherry' - built in 1796 at Thames, England for the East India Company. 467 tons. One sailing to Australia - Ireland to New South Wales in 1805, arriving 1806. 125 (or 130) male and 35 female prisoners, 2 children - 6 deaths. Many on the men on board were political prisoners. Departed from Cork, Ireland. (The register of these persons is NOT yet complete on this website - a work in progress.) In 1807 the Tellicherry was shipwrecked off the coast of the Philippines. The men were rescued and made their way to Manilla.

On return of fines and punishments in the Police Office (Reel 6023; 4/6671 p.99) 1824 Nov 26 - On list of convicts transported to Port Macquarie per "Sally" (Reel 6019; 4/3864 pp.498-9) ---------------------------------------------------- On Monday last, William Ward, and Charles Hall, were fully committed to the Quarter Sessions for trial, for stealing a blue jacket, the property of Richard Ralph, which the prisoner had sold to a woman on the Rocks, who exposed it for sale in the market-place, on Thursday last, where it was identified and claimed. Sydney Gazette, 11 Nov 1824. Saturday— William Ward and Charles Hall were indicted for stealing a blue jacket, from the house of Mr. Warman, in George-street the property of Richard Ralph. The Jury found Ward Guilty, and acquitted Hall. This being his second colonial conviction, the Court sentenced Ward to be transported for 3 years to such part of the Colony as the Governor should appoint. The Australian, 18 Nov 1824.
