Charles WARE was convicted at Ipswich, Suffolk, England on 20 Oct 1848 for house breaking and stealing silver spoons. 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Rodney' arriving 28 Nov 1850. Single man; 24yrs of age; shoe maker; 5'3 1/2" height; Church of England; can read & write a little; sallow complexion; brown hair; lt brown eyes; tatoos. Native place of birth: Winkfield, Birkshire, England Mother: Ann, at native place. Colony of VDL: 10 Dec 1850: Prison Barracks 2 Jan 1851: at E. Gatenby, Woodburn Clear Conduct Record 23 March 1852: Ticket of Leave granted. 7 June 1853: Conditional Pardon approved. March 1857: Certificate of Freedom issued, Launceston. Departure from Van Diemen's Land: 20 Sept 1853 - Charles WARE left Launceston per the ship 'Pirate', Steerage passenger, Status - Conditional Pardon - for Melbourne & Geelong, Victoria.
