George Weston was convicted at Leicester on 01/01/1844 for housebreaking - stealing coins and jewellery. 10yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'London' arriving 10/07/1844. Single man, turner, aged 21yrs, 5'1 3/4"; Protestant; can read & write. Native Place: Leicester Father - John; Mother - Rosanna Brothers - John, Benjamin & Thomas Sisters - Rosanna, Elizabeth & Lydia. Station Gang: Southport. Probation 15mths. No offences on Conduct Record Certificate of Freedom 06/06/1855. Note on Record of a further conviction in Colony in Hobart in 1855.
