28/7/1827 Windsor and Eton Express Berkshire, England: BUCKS MIDSUMMER ASSIZES, Joseph Wilkins was indicted for burglariously stealing in the dwelling house of Elizabeth Pearce, of the family bible, value 40*., Dates of birth found for Joseph 1776 and 1782. 1828 Census: Joseph Wilkins, aged 52, House Servant, Assigned to W. Bean at Brisbane Water. 19/7/1834: TOL Brisbane Water. 1838: TOL Brisbane Water. 30/10/1843: COF 1853: NSW BDM WILKINS JOSEPH 1501/1853 V18531501 39B AGE 69 - this may have been this Joseph - no proof.




Baptised 24 September 1780. The Lee, Buckinghamshire, England. His Parent's were Henry Wilkins and Elizabeth Pierce. Joseph married Jane Whittenback/Whillenbeck, on 28 July 1800 in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, England. He had 10 Children with Jane. It was stated at his trial that he had been in Aylesbury Gaol 4 times before. 1822, 1824, plus two other times not found yet. But this last time 1827, he along with another accomplice, Called ?King.stole a Bible and other items, from the Home of his Wife Jane's Sister Elizabeth Pearce, of the Lee. He was originally given a Death Sentence? Changed to 14 years Transportation to Australia. When this was changed nothing found.
