David Wilson was convicted at Madras C.M., India on 4 May 1850 for insubordination - striking his superior officer. Previous offences at Court Martial. 8 years in Regiment. 7yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per 'Alibi' arriving 25 May 1851. Single; soldier/labourer; aged 26yrs; 5'6 3/4"; Presbyterian. Period of Probation: 3yrs 6mths. 1851: at Cascades (south Hobart) 1853: at Port Arthur Penal Settlement Several notes of misconduct 17 April 1855: Ticket of Leave granted. 8 July 1856: Ticket of Leave revoked. 1858: Certificate of Freedom 9 July 1863: at Port Sorell - Breach of Masters ...Fined.
