Francis Wilson was transported on the John, departing 26th Jan 1832 and arriving 8th Jun 1832 with 200 passengers.
John 1st arrived in Sydney Cove on the 25th November 1827. 185 Male convicts. of which 7 were sent to the hospital, 3 Died. Surgeon Superintendent- Died on the voyage . John - 1836/1837 Voyage. Medical Journal was lost on the homeward passage by the shipwreck of the Ship "Medora' There is an index only.

Convict Notes
(Note: previous contributions also under my name.) Convict no. 32/1303 New South Wales, Australia. 5'5", ruddy fair complexion; brown hair; grey eyes; tatoos; single man; can read & write; Protestant. Married Ann (Hannah) Styles 18/03/1844 (ref. 295/29 1844). 11 children, 9 survived. Residences: Petersham; Hunter's Hill & Ryde, NSW. In Ryde they resided at Westward Cottage (a heritage building today) then 33 Church St. (opposite the church gates). They ran a General Store from a front room and also had an orchard. Death: 28/04/1878 aged 66 yrs. (ref. 9381/1878 Ryde district). Death Cert. gives his parents names George & Elizabeth Wilson, Yorkshire.
Death/Obituary notice in Sydney Morning Herald 1 May 1878: WILSON—April 28, at his residence, Ryde, Francis Wilson,stonemason, aged 68 years, a native of Yorkshire, England, an old and respected colonist of nearly 50 years. Another case where the life of a convict worked out well. (2nd g grandfather of Jon.)
Francis (k/a Frank) Wilson was sentenced to death for stabbing, but commuted to Life and transported to New South Wales, Australia in 1832. His trade was a stonemason and he worked on many buildings including the Catholic Church at Ryde, nr Sydney. There are historic records about his buildings. He married convict Ann (Hannah) Styles and they lived at Ryde and had 11 children. His daughter Mary Ann is the gg grandmother of my husband. He was pardoned in 1849 and died in 1878 aged 66yrs. His death record gives his parents names as George & Elizabeth Wilson (from Yorkshire).
