Henry 1825. The ship Henry, Captain Ferrier, arrived at Hobart Town, on the 9th ult. with 79 female prisoners, all whom were landed with the exception of two. Respectfully sheweth That your Excellency’s Memorialist came to this Colony per the Ship Henry, having been tried at Wells in Somersetshire in January 1821 and sentenced to Transportation for seven years. That your Excellency’s Memorialist is possessed of considerable property which he has embarked in a respectable line of business in Sydney, and which has been acquired by honesty and industry. That your Excellency’s Memorialist is married in the Colony, and has a young family for whose future welfare he is most solicitous and being anxious to become respectable again, supplicates Your Excellency to take his case into your humane consideration. And most earnestly and respectfully prays that your Excellency will be graciously pleased to consider him a fit object of your Excellency’s clemency, and that after a period of nearly four years atonement for a single deviation from rectitude, your excellency would grant him such mitigation of sentence as in your wisdom you may deem him worthy of, and memorialist as in duty bound will ever pray.
