Isaac wise did NOT die in 1841. PROOF AS FOLLOWS: 1842 - Lands Department (N:434 Book 10) 5th March 1842 settled 5th DECEMBER 1842 Indenture between Robert Wise,Yeoman, Sydney & Thomas Stubbs. Witnesses: ISAAC WISE & A Hayward. Previously land assigned to Rebecca BROWN (Robert's MOTHER) 1844: 1st Issue Lows City of Sydney Directory (p117) F3856 shows: Landholder,Parramatta Street , Sydney 1847 - Issue does not mention Isaac 1848-1849 Electoral Roll shows him in Phillip street, Sydney 1849-1850 " " " " " " " " 1851 - Ford Directory - Isaac not mentioned, so disappeared from Sydney during this time. !ISAAC LISTED IN ELECTORAL ROLLS : Parramatta Street - 09.10.1843 In the "Citizen Roll for Phillip's Ward, in the City of Sydney for 1843-44, dated and presumably published on or after the 9th October 1843 (mfm N273), Isaac is listed as follows: Citizens in this Ward:Christian-name and Surname: Wise Isaac,Nature of Property rated:shop;Where Situated:449 Parramatta-street !ISAAC LISTED IN ELECTORAL ROLLS : Parramatta Street -28.03.1844 In the "List of Electors for the Electoral District of Sydney, in Phillip Ward, for 1844-5" dated, and presumably published on or after 28th March 1844 (mfm N273), Isaac is listed as follows :Christian-name and Surname:Wise,Isaac; Where Situated:562 Parramatta St. Nature of each person at full length;Property rated freehold !ISAAC LISTED IN LOW'S DIRECTORY : Parramatta Street -1844 In the "City of Sydney Directory for MDCCCXLIV-V" (Low, Francis,1844), Issac Wise is listed as follows: Wyse,Isaac,landholder,Parramatta street The spelling of the surname as "Wyse" in this directory is more likely to have been accidental rather than deliberate, despite the fact that two of his sons - James and Henry were to adopt this spelling in the 1870s. !ISAAC LISTED IN ELECTORAL ROLLS : 12.05.1845 In the "Roll of Electors for the Electoral District of Sydney, in Phillip Ward, for the year 1845-6", dated and presumably published on or after the 12th May 1845 (mfm N273), Isaac Wise is listed as follows : No. Christian-name and Nature of the Where the Property affording Surname of the Elector Qualification the Qualification is situated 591 Wise Isaac freehold Parramatta-street The spelling here - possibly derived from land records - reverts to 'Wise'. !ISAAC ISSUES A CAUTION : Parramatta Street -16.04.1845 Isaac placed an advertisement in “The Sydney Morning Herald” (NSW) on Wednesday 16 April 1845, page 1, cautioning the public re the credit status of his wife Mary Ann. "NOTICE I hereby caution the Public about giving credit to any person, especially my wife Mary Ann Wise, on my account, as I will not be responsible for any debt or debts she may contract after this date" Signed ISAAC WISE Parramatta Street, Sydney April 15, 36:4" ISAAC WITNESSES SALE OF REBECCA BROWN’S TOWN GRANT : 04.03.1846 (¬NOTE: Rebecca Brown was his ‘housekeeper’ in the 1828 census but became the mother of several of his children, Robert and Jane Wise) On the 4th March 1846, Isaac Wise and Emanuel Crabb, in their role as a Trustees of Rebecca Brown's Town Block, witnessed a transaction involving the sale of this block, on behalf of Robert and Jane Wise, to Thomas Stubbs. The purchase price was 72 Pounds 10 Shillings. Robert Wise would have been aged 17 at this time and Jane c16. ISAAC SELLS DARLING HARBOUR ALLOTMENT : 23.03.1846 In an Indenture dated 23rd March 1846 (Book 10, No. 543), Isaac Wise, Gentleman of Sydney and his wife Mary Ann sold their Darling Harbour land to Thomas Stubbs for 95 Pounds (£95/-/-). Just what interest Mary Ann Wise (aka Isabella Wise, nee Hewitt) had in the land is unclear. That she was still alive, and signed the document is made clear in a statement forming part of the Indenture :

Isaac WISE was in a defacto relationship with Catharine WATSON aka Sarah from 1808 and had many children, some of whom died in childhood. Isaac WISE also had issue with Rebecca BROWN but they did not marry. They were: ROBERT b: 11 Oct 1828 Sydney, d:8 March 1906 Urana NSW; JANE b:1831 Sydney,NSW d:22 Dec 1890 Darlington,NSW; ISAAC b:Jan 1834 Sydney NSW, d:14 March 1835 aged 14 mths (Burials St Philips Sydney showed age and burial on 16th March 1835). Botany Cemetery Trust showed he was buried in grave of his mother Rebecca BROWN , who died in 1843)

Isaac was charged with Catherine Sarah Watson on four counts of counterfeiting, they were acquitted on three of the charges, then both found guilty on the fourth charge, and both were transported for 14 years. Old Bailey: ISAAC WISE, Royal Offences > coining offences, 28th October 1812. ISAAC WISE was indicted, for that he, on the 30th of September , had in his custody and possession, two forged bank-notes for the payment of 2 l. each, and a certain other forged bank-note, he knowing them to be forged. To this indictment the prisoner pleaded GUILTY. Transported for Fourteen Years. Formed a relationship with Catherine Sarah Watson. Catherine arrived NSW per 'Wanstead 1814'. Isaac Wise was listed as 22 years old on arrival. Native Place: London. Isaac was 5'6¾" tall, dark ruddy complexion, light brown hair, hazel eyes. Occupation: Listed as a Blacksmith. !NOTE (IMPORTANT):19 Nov 2019: Info I inserted into info about Isaac under Convict Records.com.au Note: In the Convict Records his death is registered as 1841 which puzzles me, because I have witnessed his signature on the copy of a land sale he made with his wife in Sydney in 1846. Furthermore, he was also listed in both Ford and Cox Directories for Sydney up until 1850! Despite expensive searches for the time I have been researching, from 1981 until 2019 no concrete evidence has been found of his death anywhere in Australia. Therefore I would appreciate knowing what evidence was presented for him to be shown as dying in 1841 in the Convict records?? Judy Wise (Family Historian)
