Convicted at Glouster on 30/03/1831 for stealing and receiving stolen goods. 14 yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land on the 'Lord Lyndoch' 1, voyage 92, arriving 18/11/1831. Swanson 1833 - Public Works 1835 - Mr. Cassidy 1837 - Mr. Houghton Ticket of Leave 06/06/1839 Conditional Pardon 24/05/1842 (no. 484) Newspaper report on the accidental drowning of Francis: Accidental Death. — A steady and industrious man named Francis Woodhouse, was found drowned in the river above the bridge, about half a mile from Mr. Best's house, on Sunday. The unfortunate deceased rented a farm across the Swamp, and was seen on Saturday night, proceeding homewards from town, under the influence of liquor. He did not reach home that night, and his absence, created the alarm of his neighbours, who at day light on Sunday morning went in search. After a considerable time they found the body lying upon the mud close to the bank of the river. The unfortunate man had a basket upon his arm, which in addition to the posi tion of the body, left no doubt that he must have accidentally fallen in. — Launceston Advertiser.
