Family connections for Archibald Balfour (Wood/s) are: WOOD/S Archibald Balfour (Wood/s) was tried at Wexford co.Ireland in 1811, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 16 2 1813 after a journey of 9months on ARCHDUKE CHARLES. He was a clerk when he married Mary (White her first marriage) emancipist on 20 8 1817 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. [Some details taken from this Website; where we also find an entry for Isaac (Woods) of Wexford.] Mary (White) was born about 1774. She arrived in Australia as a convict in 1794 on SURPRISE-on which much socialising between soldiers & young female convicts is recorded. She was an emancipist in 1817. She married secondly John (Gowe/an his second marriage) on 27 11 1821 at St Lukes CofE Liverpool.
