Harriet Worthington was transported on the Surrey Or Surry, departing 28th Mar 1840 and arriving 13th Jul 1840 with 214 passengers.

Built at Harwich in 1811 a square-rigged transport ship of 443 tons and copper lined she had two decks with a height between decks of 5 ft. 8 ins. In 1818, she had a major refit increasing the decks (and convict carrying capacity) to three. She was owned by the London firm of F. & C.F. Mangles.

Married William Worthington In Manchester Cathedral, England 25 Dec 1834. Left behind 4 children in England, Martha b: 1834, Elizabeth b: 1835, Mary b: 1837 and George b: 1838. Harriet's mother was Jane Forster and father was Joseph Carlton.

Servant and washerwoman. Larceny before convicted of felony. 10 years transportation. Stealing money. Previous: 3,6,1 mths. Married. 1m, 2f. servant and washerwoman. Maiden name Carlton. Married to William Worthington before transportation. Married Christopher Burgess (also a convict) in NSW and had 8 more children. Died aged 45 of diseased liver and heart and intemperance.
