Launched 1777, 401 ton barque, built at Whitby, England. Departed Portsmouth, England on 29 July 1789, via Cape of Good Hope for Port Jackson, New South Wales, Australia on 3 June 1790. 1790 voyage carried 226 female passengers (convicts)- 5 of whom died on the trip. 6 children also on board. Significant because it was the first ship to bring all female women to the Colony.

Family connections for Elizabeth (Dell) are: DELL John (Dell) married Elizabeth (??? her first marriage). Elizabeth (???/Dell) was born about 1742. She was tried for shoplifting with her son, John (Metcalf) & 1other at Reading Berkshire Great Session on 27 4 1789, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 3 6 1790 after a voyage of 12montHs on LADY JULIANA-a ship with 228females who easily entertained the whole crew & also sailors at Teneriffe stopover.>>> [Some details taken from this Website; where there are 2entries] John (Dell) & Elizabeth (???) produced perhaps 2children: 1.Matthew (Dell) was born about 1766 & baptised on 31 3 1766 at Saint Giles Reading Berkshire. He was tried for shoplifting with his mother, John (Metcalf) & 1other at Reading Berkshire Great Session on 27 4 1789, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 26 6 1790 after a voyage of 7months on Fleet ship NEPTUNE; a voyage noted for extreme brutality of prisoners with a high death rate. Michael/Nicholas (McNamara) was born about 1758. He was tried for stealing a gun at probably Old Bailey, sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 26 6 1790 after a voyage of 7months on Fleet ship NEPTUNE; a voyage noted for extreme brutality of prisoners with a high death rate. [Some details taken from this Website] a Mary (Dell convict LADY JULIANA 1790) is recorded as dying on 2 5 1800 age33 & buried at St Phillips CofE Sydney. Mary (Dell) does not have an entry on this Website-could she be Elizabeth?. Noted an Elizabeth (McNamarra) was born in 1810 to ??? (McNamarra). This Elizabeth (McNamara) married Charles (McTaggart) emancipist on 14 2 1828 at St Marys RC Sydney, lived at North Richmond & produced 8children. Charles (McTaggart/Taggart/Taggard/Taggert/Teggart/Mcintaggart), son of Charles (Taggart), was born about 1790 perhaps in Antrim co. Ireland & became a carman/coachman. He was tried for robbery at Galway Co. Ireland in 1817, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 16 12 1818 after a voyage of 4months on EARL SE VINCENT; he was 5'5" fair complexion brown hair brown eyes-apparantly Catholic; he was assigned to the Hawkesbury District. He had land at Howes Valley. He died on 1 10 1872 age about82 & was buried on a property at Howes Valley-also shown as died in 1874.
