Owen Farrell was transported on the Sugar Cane, departing 12th Apr 1792 and arriving 17th Sep 1793 with 102 passengers.
Sugar Cane, was a 403 burthen ton merchantman and convict ship that was dispatched in 1793 from Ireland to Australia. She was launched in 1786 upon the Thames River. Under the command of Thomas Musgrave, she sailed from Cork, Ireland, on 12 April 1793, with 110 male and 50 female convicts. During the voyage a mutiny by the convicts was put down and a convict executed. She arrived at Port Jackson, New South Wales on the 17 September 1793. The Sugar Cane left Port Jackson for Bengal in late 1793.

Family connections for Owen (Farrell) are: FARRELL Owen (Farrell) was born about 1770 & became a sawyer. He was tried for stealing sheep skins at Tholsel Dublin Ireland in 1791, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 17 9 1793 after a voyage of 5/17months on SUGAR CANE; he was Protestant. She was Free by Servitude by 1806. She had a second (2of3) relationship with Hugh (Hughes his third relationship) & is recorded with him as housekeeper to his family at Parramatta. She died on 6 11 1838 age72/5 at Castle Hill mother of perhaps 5children, matriarch of colonial Parramatta; she was buried at Parramatta with her first partner Owen (Farrell). He may have had a first relationship with Sarah (Biggleston). He apparantly was issued his Conditional Pardon & also Absolute Pardon on 22 7 1811. Owen died in 1832. Also in the same plot area are other members of the family, including his daughter Elizabeth and amazingly, Jane Walker. Sacred to the memory of OWEN FARRELL who departed this life at Sydney 6th November 1832 aged 62 years. Also of EMMA TAYLOR Granddaughter of the above. Died 16th June 1835 aged 19 Months. Also of JANE WALKER died 6th November 1838 aged 75 years. Also of EUPHEMIA TAYLOR died 16th May 1845 age 3 weeks. Also of ROBERT NAIRN died 21st Septr 1849 aged 3 years & 9 months. Owen appears to have had a relationship with Jane Walker soon after arrival in the colony. They had a daughter Elizabeth born 1797. Owen was tried in 1791 at Tholsel Dublin City and sentenced to seven years transportation for stealing sheep skins. He was transported aboard the ship Sugar Cane and upon arrival in the colony was described as a Protestant sawyer age 22.
