George was transported to Australia after receiving a 20 year sentance for the manslaughter of John Barron at Headley on 27 May 1854. George was sent out aboard the ship William Hammond which arrived in Perth, Western Australia on 29 March 1856. He had previously been convicted of poaching. George subsequently died in hospital on the 28 March 1857, exactly one year after his arrival in the colony. George was sentenced after stabbing a man outside the public house where they had both been attending a meeting of the 'Friendly Society'.
