Built 1834 at Calcutta. Wood ship of 684 Tons. The 1847/48 voyage sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) BUT also went on to Port Phillip Bay, Victoria where 300 exiles disembarked. (The newspaper source says they were from Millbank, Pentonville & Parkhurst prisons.)

TRIED: 15 March 1845. He was found guilty of stealing a lamb. He had previous convictions, including one for possession of a gun. VDL CONDUCT RECORD: He was Protestant, married with four children and could read and write a little. His was described as well behaved (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON33-1-70$init=CON33-1-70p123).

1847, 3 September: George HEMMINGS, per Marion 2, Bedford Assizes, 15 March 1845, 10 years, passport holder, died in Hobart Hospital (see Tasmania, Australia, Convict Court and Selected Records, 1800-1899; Register; Registers of convict deaths, 1845-1874).

1847, 8 September: George HEMMINGS, 28, per Marion 2 – bond, Protestant – was buried in the grounds of the Prisoners’ Barracks, at Hobart, having been a patient in the General Hospital at Hobart. The ceremony was performed by Wm Hesketh (see https://librariestas.ent.sirsidynix.net.au/ Resource RGD34/1/2 no 1614).
