1847: Francis HARVEY, per Neptune, 33, was admitted to Goulburn Jail (see NSW Gaol Description and Entrance Books, 1818-1930; Entrance and Description Book, Goulburn 1847-1869). 1850, 3 September: Francis HARVEY, per Neptune, a free man and sawyer, was admitted to Goulburn Jail to serve 24 hours in solitary confinement. He was released the following day (see NSW Gaol Description and Entrance Books, 1818-1930; Entrance and Description Book, Goulburn 1848-1869).


1845, 19 November: Granted a Certificate of Freedom, No.45/1455. He was listed as being at Tumut River on 29 November 1845, and his date of birth is 1808 (see New South Wales, Australia, Certificates of Freedom, 1810-1814, 1827-1867).


1838: On arrival in NSW, Francis HARVEY was listed as 30 years old. His native place was Tyrone County. He was married, a Roman Catholic and could read and write. He had no previous convictions (see New South Wales, Australia, Convict Indents, 1788-1842; Non-Annotated Printed Indentures, 1838).


CRIME: Stealing iron grate (see http://members.pcug.org.au/~ppmay/cgi-bin/irish/irish.cgi) 1837, 17 August: Francis HARVEY was admitted to Kilmainham Gaol, Dublin, having been sentenced to 7 years for larceny on 30 June 1837 by P Fogarty Esq. He was prisoner #678, 34 years old, 5'6" with grey eyes, fair hair and a fair complexion. He was discharged on 26 August to go aboard the Neptune (see Ireland, Prison Registers, 1790-1924; Dublin, Kilmainham 1836-1910).
