William has been traced to his village in Tharston, Norfolk and appears on a website: www.tharston-past.info/home.html His life story will be there for all to see.

** 2 William Hunts on this voyage ** Convict No: 1878 William was tried at Norwich on the 2/4/1850, so had spent time in prison before being transported. Birth date listed as 1825 but more likely to be 1830 according to his headstone. Parents: James & Ann Hunt William was single, 5' 8 3/4" tall, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, long face, sallow complexion, stout made, little finger of left hand crooked, scar on right wrist. Ticket Leave Date: 1 May 1853 Conditional Pardon Date: 1 Jul 1854 30/7/1855: Married Catherine Murphy (1830-6/8/1915) at Toodyay. Children: Anne, b1856. James Patrick HUNT, b. 1858, Western Australia, d. 16 Jan 1944, New Norcia, Western Australia, (Age 86 years). He is not listed on the WA BDM. Seems there were more - see the obituary below. 7/7/1890: William died. On his Headstone it reads: William Hunt who died 7/7/1890, aged 59 years. William was buried at New Norcia Cemetery, Western Australia. 17/7/1890 The Daily News, Perth: An old and much respectod settler here— Mr. William Hunt— has just died, after a protracted illness. The funeral took place on the 2nd instant. Deceased has left a widow and numerous family. Wife Catherine died 6/8/1915 aged 85, she is buried next to William.

Allegedly stole two geese and a gander. Had a previous conviction. Was granted a ticket of leave on 1.5.1853 and conditionally pardoned on 1.7.1854.
