Convict Notes
Son of Second Fleet Convict Samuel Harding and Esther Waterhouse alias Jones born Parramatta, NSW in about 1795. Samuel, married to Elizabeth Bartlett, eloped with Esther to Dursley, Gloucestershire in 1813. Son James was born while ship was berthed in Gibraltar. Married migrant from East Sussex, Mercy Trill. Couple had six children. Mercy was a cousin of Mormon Leader and Governor of Utah, Brigham Young. James died in Nundle when a horse he was riding, fell and rolled over him. Buried in Annandale Cemetery, now a park in Norton Street, Leichhardt.
