Family connections for James (Shepherd) are: SHEPHERD James (Shepherd) was born about 1807 in Yorkshire. He may have worked for/apprenticed to ??? (Luscombe). He married firstly ??? (???). He was tried for warehousebreaking & stealing at Lancaster Quarter Sessions Lancashire on 16 10 1833, sentenced to 14years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 11 6 1834 after a voyage of 5months on HIVE; he was 5'9" brown hair grey eyes. He was issued his Ticket of Leave no.40/4815 for Windsor on 13 8 1840. He sought permission to marry Phoebe (McQuion) in 1840-denied due to previous marriage. He married secondly Phoebe (McQuion her second marriage) with permission on 18 6 1845. He was issued his Certificate of Freedon no.49/142 on 27 4 1849also, while working for Mr (Luscombe). He died in 1866 age about59. [Some details taken from this Website] Phoebe/Phebe (McQueen/McQuion/M'Queen) was born about 1808 perhaps in Edinburgh Scotland. She was tried for stealing a purse etc of John (Sims) at Old Bailey, sentenced to 14years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 13 6 1834 after a voyage of 6.5months on NUMA. She married firstly David (Meffan his second marriage) in 1835 in Hunter/Maitland district. She was issued her Ticket of Leave on 28 10 1840 for Windsor. She sought permission to marry James (Shepherd his second marriage) in 1840. Her Certificate of Freedom no.69/34 was issued on 27 4 1849-she was a nursemaid; 5'0.75" .
