26/12/1840 Northampton Mercury Northamptonshire, England: LAMBETH-STREET Gaol. Tuesday,—Before J. A. Arnold, Esq. Committal of Crow Butcher. —John Hipwell, of Churchover, farmer, charged John Hambley, of Catthorpe,with breaking a sheep's neck. Further on in the notice John was referred to as Hambler and was apparently on his way to tell Hipwell about the sheep. John Hambler was 25 years old when transported – his crime was ‘Maliciously killing sheep’, the property of John Hipwell. John was 5’ 6” tall, could read, single, protestant, fresh complexion, auburn hair and thin whiskers, grey eyes, scar on left elbow. Father: John, a shoemaker Mother: Mary Brothers: William and David Sister: Eleanore. 1/12/1846: TOL 28/1/1852: Free Certificate. 20/3/1851: Passenger per ‘Panama’ Launceston to Adelaide – Free by Servitude. 31/3/1851 Adelaide Times: PASSENGERS INWARDS. Passengers per Panama—John Hambler, Thos. M'Grath, Charles Longridge, Joseph Yardley, John Treasure. 1851: Married Elizabeth Ann Palmer in Adelaide – No births, or deaths registered in SA, Vic, NSW or QLD.
