Sugar Cane, was a 403 burthen ton merchantman and convict ship that was dispatched in 1793 from Ireland to Australia. She was launched in 1786 upon the Thames River. Under the command of Thomas Musgrave, she sailed from Cork, Ireland, on 12 April 1793, with 110 male and 50 female convicts. During the voyage a mutiny by the convicts was put down and a convict executed. She arrived at Port Jackson, New South Wales on the 17 September 1793. The Sugar Cane left Port Jackson for Bengal in late 1793.

She was tried for stealing at Dublin city, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 17 9 1793 after a voyage of 5/17months on SUGAR CANE. She had a first relationship with Thomas (Farr) & produced a child.>>> [Some details taken from this Website] Thomas (Farr) alias Thomas (Field) was tried at York Assizes, sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW as a convict on 9 7/28 8 1791 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship WILLIAM AND ANN. He was moved to Norfolk Island arriving on 21 5 1796. He had a second relationship with Elizabeth (Crook/Clarke her first relationship). He enlisted in NSW Corps as Thomas (Farr) in Sydney on 24 7 1798 as a private, but was discharged on 31 7 1798. He produced 2known children in his lifetime. He was tried for shop lifting at Warwick Assizes in July 1790, sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW as a convict on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of perhaps 6months on Fleet ship MATILDA; he was Protestant (CofE). He was Free by Servitude by 1809. He married secondly Sarah (Spencer-Phillips her first relationship) on 13 4 1812 at St Matthews CofE Windsor. He established Coach & Inn business connections. He is recorded in 1826 as innkeeper, in 1827 as farmer & at Castlereagh in 1828. He was a landholder when he died on 29 9 1828 age51 at Evan father of 11children & was buried at Christ Church Castlereagh.
