Agnes Lander was transported on the Margaret, departing 5th Feb 1843 and arriving 19th Jul 1843 with 158 passengers.
Built 1829 at Chepstow. 365 tons. Female prisoners were transported to New South Wales on the 'Margaret' in 1837, 1839 and 1840. The 'Margaret' was the last convict ship to transport female prisoners to New South Wales. Another voyage to Van Diemen's Land in 1843. The 1840 sailing also carried 17 free female passengers and one male. The registers of persons is not yet complete on this web site, so please note this if researching. (A work in progress.)

Agnes LANDERS or FLEMING was convicted at Glasgow on 15 Sept 1842 for theft. Previous offences. 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Margaret' arriving 19 July 1843. Single woman; 5'3 1/4"; aged 22yrs; housemaid; Church of England; can read. Native place - Glasgow Father - Robert Brothers (7) - William, Robert, James, John, Thomas, Edward. (William & Robert were transported to Sydney 2 yrs ago) Sisters - Mary & Janette Assignments of work services in the Colony. Some notes of misconduct and punishments. Free Certificate 12 Oct 1849
