1833, 11 February: Walter Cunningham, 33, was received aboard the Cumberland prison hulk at Chatham. He was sent from there for transportation on 5 July 1833 (see UK, Prison Hulk Registers and Letter Books, 1802-1849). --0-- 1833: On arrival in VDL, Walter Cunningham was married with two children; his wife, Elizabeth, and family were at his native place, Edinburgh. He said he had been transported to the Colony previously, aboard the Maria (1820). He had remained in VDL for three years after the expiration of his sentence before returning "home" on the Clarence as a sailor. The surgeon's report for the Isabella's voyage says Walter was the "head cook and gave satisfaction" (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-7$init=CON31-1-7p238).
