1825 Journey. On Saturday morning (3 Dec) arrived from London and Dublin, the ship Henry Porcher, Captain John Thompson, with 175 male prisoners, having lost one man - the rest in good health. She sailed from London the 10th of July, and Dublin the 5th of August. The guard comprises a detachment of the 47th Regiment, under the orders of Captain Donaldson. The Surgeon Superintendent is Dr. CARTER, R. N. Sydney Gazette, 5 Dec 1825.

Text type Trial account Defendants WILLIAM JACKSON Offences Theft > Simple larceny Session Date 9th May 1836 Reference Number t18360509-1297 Verdicts Guilty Punishments Transportation 1297. WILLIAM JACKSON was indicted for stealing, on the 2nd of April, 2 sovereigns, the monies of Samuel Williams. LOUIS WILLIAMS . I am the wife of Samuel Williams. The prisoner was in our employ as errand boy—I gave him gave him two sovereigns to pay 1l. 6s. 8d. for poor-rates—he never returned till he was in custody. Prisoner I had the money taken from till he a young man at Islington. Witness I live in Beauford-terrace, King's-road, Chelsea. He had to go in the same road—he had not to go to Islington—he had to go about half a mile—he was to pay it to Brooks. JOHN BROOKS . I am a collector of poor-rates. The prosecutor owned 1l. 6s. 8d. for poor-rates—they are still owing—the prisoner never paid it. FRANCIS JOHN RICHES (police-constable E 54.) I took the prisoner into custody on the 5th of May, in Robert-street, Chelsea—I told him the charge—he admitted taking the two sovereigns, and said they were taken from him again—I had been looking for him from the 22nd. prisoner Defence I had the money, and pout it in my hand to go and pay Mr. Brooks—I away with it, and went to Islington, and had it taken from me. GUILTY . Aged 15— Transported for Seven Years.
