Convict Notes
Born Walcot Bath 1817 son of William and Lucy Wilton. Occupations: Baker, Scots Fusiliers, convict, 1848-9 shopkeeper at McQuarry St also at Sorrell St George Town and Publican in 1851-5 at the Port Sorell Inn George Town, 1856-7 Plough Inn at Launceston and 1857-1863 The Black Horse Inn Launceston, which now in 2016 is known as the "Cock and Bull British Pub." He had received a Ticket of leave 1846, 1849 Conditional Pardon, 1850 Certificate of Freedom. Married Margaret McCarthy, children, Margaret1847 Henry Hope 1849, Willliam 1851, Thomas 1853, Albert James 1856. Henry died of disease of the Heart 11th March 1863 and was buried at Cypress St Cemetery.
