John Allen was convicted at Tipperary, Ireland in 1815 and given a 7yr transportation sentence. He was shipped to New South Wales on the “Surrey” arriving 1816.

John ALLEN – per Surry 1 (2), born 1792, native place Tipperary, labourer; tried 1815 at Tipperary and sentenced to 7 years, was admitted to Kilmainham Gaol, Dublin, on 11 January 1816 (prisoner #2380, committed by Sgt Moore). He was discharged from the jail on 16 May 1816 to be “sent on board the convict ship” (see Ireland, Prison Registers, 1790-1924; Dublin, Kilmainham 1815-1910).
