Reports on Crosbie's trial in Dublin are found in Freemans Journal Newspaper and Saunders Newsletter on Wednesday 27th September 1837. A letter from his mother, Margaret, pleading for leniency from transportation, written to Henry Mulgrave, Governor of Ireland can be found in national Archives of Ireland. Document reference 2: CRF 1837 C296 - MFS 59/5 (CRF 1837 A1 – D172) (microfilm l – convict reference) outlining that his father passed away and she has six young children dependent on John's breadwinning. In 1842 he was granted his Ticket of Leave, having worked in the Invermien area and in 1845 he married Jane Mullavey at Maitland. He worked as a shepherd on many properties in the Glen Innes and Wellingrove areas. He had 11 children with Jane and over the years bought land with his earnings passing away at his Gray St house.
