John COLLINS was convicted at the CCC, London on 9 May 1836 for Larceny - stealing a quantity of printed linen, the property of Mr. Isaac Handscombe. Previous offences. 14 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Sarah' arriving 29 March 1837. Single man; aged 19yrs; 5'1 1/2". Native Place: Marylebone, London. Various work assignments in VDL, but several records of misconduct and punishments including being sent to Port Arthur Penal settlement. Further offence in 1842.
