She was taken up by the East India Company in 1786. Convict Transport-Barque built Ship. 452 tons, 114ft long, 31ft wide. Arrived with 177 male Convicts (14 dv) Carried 30 Crew + 41 Marines Master: Duncan Sinclair She was the largest of the eleven vessels of the historic First Fleet to Australia. The First Fleet consisted of two Royal Navy escort ships, HMS Sirius and HMS Supply accompanied by six convict transports, the Alexander, Charlotte, Friendship, Lady Penrhyn, Prince of Wales and the Scarborough, and three store ships, the Borrowdale, Fishburn and Golden Grove. Convicts on the 1st Fleet Alexander are listed under Lady Penrhyn, Scarborough & Alexander.

Family connections for Mary (Rock) are: ROCK Mary (Rock) was born in 1793 in Ireland? & became a country servant. She was tried at Dublin City in January 1815, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 4 4 1816 after a 5month journey on ALEXANDER; & sent to Derwent Tasmania Van Diemens Land on 10 4 1816 on HMS KANGAROO. She had a relationship Michael (Duggan his second relationship) & produced 2children. [These details taken from Mary (Rock)s entry on this Website] Michael (Duggan) married Mary (???) in Ireland. He arrived in NSW as a private with his family on 11 2 1796 after a voyage of 6months on MARQUIS CORNWALLIS. In 1798 he was detached to (Paterson)s company, where he remained until his discharge on 25 3 1803. In 1804 he was granted 120acres at Mulgrave Place. In 1809 he was granted 50acres at Parramatta.
