The ‘Guildford’ was built on the River Thames, England in 1810. Used as a Convict Transport ship to Australia - voyages 1812, 1816, 1818, 1820, 1822, 1824, 1827 & 1829. The ship was lost at sea near Singapore in 1831, loosing all aboard.

RUE Family connections for James (Rue) are: CCONVICTdoneyes James (Rue) was born in 1803or5 at Glasgow Lanarkshire Scotland. In 1821 he was sentenced 14years at Glasgow Court of Judiciary for being in company of felons & arrived in NSW as a convict on 18 9 1822 after a voyage of 3.5months on GUILDFORD. He married Mary Ann (May) in 1833 at Molong. He became a ropemaker carpenter labourer shepherd for A K (McKenzie) then Thomas (Kite) [mentioned ABOVE & with whom he remained for 45years] & J T (Campbell)-at Kangaroobie Orange, Dockaire Bathurst for 50years. On Thomas (Kite)s death in 1876 James (Rue) was bequeathed 100lb plus 50lb per year for the term of his natural life. He died on 12 10 1881 age about78 at Glanmire & was buried at CofE Kelso. [Some details taken from this Website] Mary Ann (May) daughter of Samuel Owens (May) & Jane (???) [or is it Samuel (Owens) & Jane (May)] was born about 1803 in Sydney. She was a domestic servant & housewife & died on 15 10 1855 age about82 [one source says age70] at Glanmire/Macquarie & was buried at CofE Kelso.
