Convict Notes

Patrick was court-martialled on 21/10/1812 at Fort Chambly in Canada. Patrick was in the 100th Regiment (Irish soldiers) which saw action in the 1812 war between the United States and the British possessions to the north. The regiment had been sent to Canada in 1804 when Patrick was 17 years old, and arrived in October 1805. Patrick married Judith Kilfroy McDermott in 1808 in Canada and they had 2 children born there. A 3rd child, Eliza, was born in England, after Patrick was sent back there to await transportation. In 1814 he was sent to NSW on the Surrey. Judith and the family arrived per the Broxbournbury, which sailed in the same fleet as the Surrey. 1827-1833: Ticket of exemption from Government labour, to reside with his wife Judith, came free, per "Broxbornebury" 1814. 1833: TOL Illawarra 1840: TOL Campbelltown. 1/7/1843: CP. This was followed by a Certificate of Emancipation. (no date).

I have been searching for records of marriage and births of mentioned children for a long time. I descend from Eliza. D Wong do you have any documents verifying births of children or marriage to Judith. Patrick spent a few years in Quebec (I assunme) as a deserter. I can verify everything the Chambly Assizes court martial.

For Meryl Naismith: Sorry I can't be of further help to you. My information comes from gov.records and other websites, anywhere I can glean some info. of these convict arrivals. No certificates etc. I read a lot of info on Patrick on "peterknox.wordpress.com/thesis-in-progress/", the story of Melinda Kendall, Patrick's daughter. He also seems not to have certificates on Eliza. Good luck in your search. Dodie.

Thanks Dodle, I descend from Patrick and Judith via Eliza, probably born in England. I have read the link you provided and anything else I can find.
